Notepad is not the right tool

Developing a website necessitates the use of the proper software tools to script code that will run it in browser applications. While there are many options in this regard, some of the more basic, i.e., those that feature the minimum tolerance in their functionalities as web design tools like Notepad should be reserved as a last resort if nothing else is available. However, a professional in the field should never have this issue, and should practice the habit of shooting for the best possible software as resources allow. Notepad is nowhere near this level, and following are some of the reasons Notepad is not the right tool for website design.

Using Notepad to script code happens upon a stumbling block in the form of the validation stage in web development. All websites must pass validation against web standards prior to actual online publishing. Notepad fails here because it does not have validating tool in the first place. Nobody could fault the application for this, though, since it is not really intended for website design. It is simply a text editing program that many individuals mistake for a workaround solution to their inability to come up with better suited choices.

Without a utility for validating script, there is no way for the user to know if there are mistakes such as typos in the script, which will typically result in errors when loading the webpage in a browser, if it loads at all. Current software that are specifically intended for web design usually feature a utility for scanning the script for causative factors that can potentially affect the functionality of the site under construction. Others even provide suggestions for code and templates as well, making code scripting a matter of just selecting through a variety of code options. This is obviously better than having the designer encode the entire script manually using a keyboard. Novices get a far inferior deal when using Notepad for practice designs. Without the proper back check utilities to tell them if they have gone astray from the fundamentals, it is very difficult for beginners to maintain a proper course in design exercises.

HTML scripting is best left to the tools that can accomplish it easily and accurately. Web designers should leave the venerable Notepad to its real purpose, which is to write text documents. For those not inclined to purchase specialized software for web design outright, there are usually free versions of the more popular ones that anyone can try out. Selecting a standard version of the one that the user feels best would go from there.
