Sony recently introduced its first ever range of external hard drives that offer reliable data storage along with various home entertainment options. The HD-PG5 series external hard drives come in stylish design and with a capacity of 500 GB for storing all your digital media files safely.

The HD-PG5U external hard disk drives allow you to transfer recorded video files directly from Handycam camcorders without the need of a PC. Just connect the external hard drive to the Handycam using the supplied USB cable and transfer files using the Direct Copy function. The drive is compatible with BRAVIA TV models as well for easy recording of HDTV programs. It can also be connected to PlayStation 3 to view stored videos and photos without PC.

You can easily protect all your data and files in the HD-PG5UB using the password protection manager software. It uses 256-bit encryption to avoid any unauthorized access of data in the drive. Scheduled backup feature using the backup manager software will protect you from the embarrassment of losing your precious files.

The Sony external hard drive is designed with scratch resistant paint layer that will keep the drive look new for years. The blue LED on top of the drive indicates the drive activity. The all new Sony HD-PG5 series external hard drives weigh just 180g and will be available in black and white colors.

The drive is set to hit the market from mid July only in UK, France and German at an undisclosed price.
