The new generation digital camcorders are much more advanced than previous versions. They are capable of recording videos in high definition and store the same using the built-in memory or SD cards.
Sony has recently announced two new Handycam digital camcorders models the DCR-SX15E and DCR-SR15E. Both these models are standard-definition (SD) camcorders that come with a 2.7-inch flip out LCD display and 50X optical zoom.
The Sony SX15E has no in-built memory therefore users need to rely on SD cards. You can easily backup the videos to an external hard disk drive using the Direct Copy feature that comes with the camcorder. The Sony SR15E comes with a built-in 80GB hard drive which is well enough to store several hours of videos. Although prices are yet to be announced, both these models are due to hit the market in October.
