Intel has already come up with couple of ultra-low power consumption processors for laptops. Now, Intel has released its first Atom-class processor for both home and small office markets. Intel also promises that this new single core (D410) and dual core (D510) processors will save 50% power while compared to any of the previous Atom processors.
The new Atom D510 1.6GHz dual core processor has got the power to allow upto twenty simultaneous streaming of at 30Mbps within a local network. Some of the other features include the support for six PCI Express lanes, eSATA ports, 12UBS inputs, and a port multiplier function. You can expect these Atom chips on products made by LG, QNAP, LaCie, Synology and Thecus. However, the launch dates and price of Atom processors is still to be announced by Intel.
