Digital cameras require frequent cleaning to keep the camera away from dust and to keep the camera functional for several years.  Cleaning the small point and shoot digital cameras is quite simple while compared to the SLR cameras.  For small cameras you can just use the camera cloth to clean the exterior parts including lens and display.  You can also use a high quality lens cleaner to clean the eyepiece and lens.  However, make sure that you don’t use your T-shirt to clean it, because you could sometimes leave scratches on the lens.  Follow the below given simple techniques to clean your SLR digital camera in the best way.

1.    First, before you remove the lens thoroughly clean the exterior parts of the camera using any soft dry cloth.  You can also purchase a good lens cleaning fluid from a camera store.  It shouldn’t cost you much and it can clean your digital camera more precisely as well.

2.    Now you can clean the mirror and sensor by blowing mild air.  Make sure that you don’t use anything besides canned air while cleaning the sensor.  Always hold your camera up side down while cleaning otherwise the dust may get back into the camera.  If you are unsure on how to clean the sensor, then just take the camera to a camera service specialist, because any damage to the sensor will cost you plenty.

3.    If the digital camera lens is smudged, then use a small quantity of lens cleaner to clean it.  Also, if skylight filters is fixed on your camera, then make sure that you have removed it and clean them as well.

4.    Dust on the rear element of the lens can cause bluntness while taking snaps, therefore, rear element of the lens must be cleaned as well using canned air and lens cleaner.

5.    Finally, you are required to clean the eyepiece and viewing screen by applying the same method that you used to clean the camera lens.

Precautions:

1.    Never use any local chemicals or alcohol-based cleaners to clean you camera, because this may damage the lens and other camera elements.

2.    Using paper towels or tissue paper to clean the camera lens is not recommended, as they may be manufactured with chemicals that are not good for your camera.

3.    Finally, always use materials that are recommended for camera cleaning.
