Last week Thursday was really bad day for companies such as NASA, Comcast, Disney and more as their servers and computers are compromised by a new virus named “Here You Have”. This new computer worm has infected the computers through an e-mail message.
The virus spreads through e-mail message which will have the subject line as “here you have” thus encouraging the users to click the link that comes along with the e-mail. Once the link is clicked the virus gets activated and it disables all your anti-virus products that are stored on your computer and then it sends copies of all your important messages to all the contacts in your e-mail address book. The virus also copies itself to all shared local networks that your computer connected with.
Follow the below given steps to protect yourself from the “Here You Have” Virus:
- Don’t open any unsolicited e-mails, especially from unknown people.
- Don’t click any links that comes with the e-mail, since it might point to a virus.
- Don’t download any attachments that come with junk e-mails.
- Make sure that you have turned off the option that automatically downloads any attachments to your computer.
- If you have already infected by the virus then make sure that you have disabled your network sharing and disconnected your computer from the local network to avoid spreading of the virus further.
- Finally make sure that you have installed a good anti-virus program on your computer and make sure it’s up to date.
