You don’t need to worry anymore about your Facebook account being hacked while you log into your account from a cyber café or public computers. Facebook has recently added a new feature known one-time password recovery to its security list. So, what’s new with this security feature? Well, the new one-time password security feature will generate a one-time password for your Facebook account which will be sent to your mobile phone via SMS instantly.
The password could be used only once and expires in 20 minutes, thus ensuring your Facebook account is kept safe even though you forget to sign out from it. To make use of this new feature you’ll need a mobile phone number registered on your Facebook account. You need to confirm your mobile phone number by entering the code which Facebook would send to you via SMS while registering.
So, once you have successfully added your mobile number you can simply text “otp” to 32665 and immediately you’ll receive a one-time password on your mobile that expires in 20 minutes. Facebook is planning to roll out the new one-time password security feature to everyone in the coming weeks.
Facebook also announced another new feature called “remote logout capability”. This new feature will allow the users to sign-out of their Facebook account remotely. You can check for all active sessions under the Account Security section of your Facebook account. Do leave a comment on what you feel about this new security feature from Facebook.
