We all know that HTML 5 is good for rendering videos. However, now Google engineers have gone one step forward and developed a HTML 5 port of Quake II. Now, you can run Quake II in your browser without any slouch. Many have already reported that they have successfully getting it up and running the game without any problems.
The two main things you would need to get Quake II running by yourself are Chromium browser and Mercurial for Google code check. You can find the full installation directions here.
