My family and I were coming from a family gathering- my uncle driving his car and me in my car with my my mother. This was our first time in the area and it was dark out. We decided to follow my uncle since he said he knew where he was going. After 15 minutes we drive by some cows behind a fence and we didn’t past cows we were drove to the place. Well my mother and I stopped following my uncle and drove the other way because we thought he was going another way(he lives another city from us). About 5 minutes later we see a car following us closely with their high beams on. Turns out it was my uncle he had caught up with us after we stop tailing him, Eventually (as in 40 minutes) we found our way out of the area and drove to our homes.

Once me and my friends had a join party and while we were returning to my house, we were lost because of new routes and it took like more than three hours for us to reach my house. It was a horrible moment in my life, yet when i think about it i still laugh.

To understand this story you have to know a little about me. I have been a teacher my whole life and one of my talents is recognizing the gifts and abilities of all children. This has also helped me to understand my own gifts and to realize that navigating is not one of them. I am not a bad driver, I am just directionally impaired. I have lived in Tulsa Oklahoma almost my entire life and prior to getting GPS had to call my husband (who in not from Tulsa) constantly to help me find my way. (Even had to call him sometimes after getting GPS :-) )

The event in question happened about three years ago, after visiting a friend in Dallas. On my way home not only did I get terribly lost, I drove through two different states that were not even on my way home. For those that don’t know the easiest way from Dallas to Tulsa is via Oklahoma City then the turnpike to Tulsa. Got to Oklahoma City okay but missed the Turnpike and ended up in Kansas. I only noticed my mistake when I realized there were way too many Kansas plates. So flipped around and made my way to Tulsa. Oops, missed Tulsa completely and ended up in Missouri. Finally made my way home an hour later. I not only need my iPhone to tell me where to go I need it to shout it out.
