Web design tips
Choosing between a fixed or a fluid web design to use for a particular website is a matter of style. There are those who opt for a fixed design, thereby having web pages retaining its default dimensions in all browser programs. Thus, this style is intended for those who prefer their sites to render accurately each and every time. Fluid web designs, on the other hand, are able to be displayed in a stretch format to completely span all sizes of monitors with varying resolutions.
A fluid design that is intended to fill in resolutions entirely will have certain changes done automatically to the webpage in order to accommodate the switch from the default browser to either a much bigger or smaller displaying one. Text rewrapping, for one, typically occurs when the design stretches to match the new dimensions. This is but a matter of appearance, though. The functionality of the site will remain largely the same, so it should not turn off website owners interested in a fluid web design.
There are strong points to each of the two styles. While fluid websites are generally thought of as less rigid in design and allows for a more natural flow of content, fixed designs have a continuity in them that appeals to individuals who want more or less the exact appearance in their sites regardless of the browser program chosen to load its pages.
